I started working with Charles in 2022, after he was recommended by a physiotherapist for his expertise in nutrition and strength training. In addition to this, he has a lot of expertise working with women who have PCOS, which I do. So I wanted someone who understood the challenges that I would have in losing weight – I found just that personal trainer in Charles.

My initial goal was to try and lose weight, but knowing that it would be harder for me because of my PCOS. Charles has taken the time in educating me about my nutrition, training (specifically weight training) and what I should be focusing on in trying to achieve my goal. My goal is now to get stronger, building strength in my back and knees (which I have issues with) and this is what has happened over the past two years and I’m so much stronger than I ever have been.

I’ve made massive progress with Charles and I’ve only gotten stronger (although he continues to fuel my love of bread and cheese!). The thing about Charles is that he gets to know his clients, he realises that some days I’m struggling and doesn’t let me fail. I have a structured training program and Charles never lets me fail. He can talk me off the edge when I’m being too hard on myself and is encouraging rather than punitive. He’s always supportive.

Getting to know Charles has been a part of the process. He’s become a friend while properly educating me on nutrition and focusing on appropriate training for me. I don’t have some generic training program, but a very specific session for me. He can tell what mood I’m in just by looking at me. There have been times when he’s made the decision not to train and we’ve just gone for a walk because he knows that if I can’t get through my session I’ll be disappointed and consider it a failure. He has changed my sessions to make me stronger, focusing on what to do and frankly, it’s an hour of my week which I enjoy most.
